Simulated probability of detecting an acoustically tagged fish on a receiver line (DP pass ) estimated using empirically determined daily range detection curves at 4 lines in Lake Huron (see Fig. 1 for receiver line locations). Fish (1000 individuals day−1) were simulated moving through an equally spaced 10-receiver line at two constant velocities (0.5, 1.0 m s−1) and three inter-receiver distances (500, 1000, 3000 m)
