Detailed movements from a subset of seven tracked individual red knots around Griend. Data between two high tides at 00:50 and 13:16 CEST on 31 August 2018 are shown. The inset shows the proximity network for these seven birds based on a spatial proximity of 50 m (see Methods). The colours of individuals in the inset match the tracks, and the larger the circle the more an individual has been in close proximity to other birds. If pairs of individuals have been in close proximity to each other they are connected with a line. The weight of the line reflects how often they were in close proximity. In total, 79 individuals were localized in this timeframe for which an animation of their movement relative to the tide can be found in the Supplementary Information.
